Notice of City Councilmember Vacancy and Application Process 

 

Lemon Grove, CA — At its January 7, 2025, meeting, the Lemon Grove City Council voted to open the application process for the appointment of a City Councilmember. This vacancy was created by Councilmember Alysson Snow’s election as Mayor of Lemon Grove, effective December 17, 2024. The appointed term will run until December 2026. 

Qualifications and Eligibility 

Applicants must meet the following criteria: 

  • Be a United States citizen. 
  • Be at least 18 years old as of the appointment date. 
  • Be a resident and registered voter in the City of Lemon Grove at the time of application. 

Application Period 

The application period runs from Thursday, January 9, 2025, through Tuesday, January 23, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. 

The City Council is looking for individuals who want to make a difference in bringing the community together and have a thorough understanding of the issues facing the City of Lemon Grove. The appointed Councilmember must attend regularly scheduled City Council meetings on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6:00 p.m. Additionally, the appointee will serve as a Council liaison to external agencies and organizations. 

How to Apply 

1. Download: Obtain the Council Vacancy Application from the City’s website or pick up a hard copy at Lemon Grove City Hall, located at 3232 Main Street, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. 

2. Submit: Completed applications must be submitted to the City Clerk’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on January 23, 2025:

  • In person or by mail: City Clerk’s Office, 3232 Main Street, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. 
  • By email: Send a PDF version of the completed application to the City Clerk at jpablo@lemongrove.ca.gov. If emailed, a hard copy must be delivered or mailed within 24 hours. The e-mail submission timestamp will establish meeting the deadline. 

Next Steps 

After the application period closes, City staff will verify each applicant’s eligibility. Qualified applicants will be interviewed during a public meeting at the Regular City Council Meeting on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Lemon Grove Community Center, located at 3146 School Lane, Lemon Grove, CA 91945. 

The City Council may make an appointment decision at this meeting or may direct staff to schedule the matter for a future agenda.
