Lemon Grove, CA – The City of Lemon Grove is proud to announce that it has been honored with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for the third consecutive year. This prestigious award recognizes the City’s commitment to financial transparency and outstanding efforts in preparing its fiscal year 2024/25 budget book. GFOA applies stringent guidelines to receive this award. The guidelines are designed to assess how well a City’s budget serves: 

• A policy document 

• A financial plan 

• An operations guide 

• A communication tool. 

“It's a huge accomplishment for our team and our staff. Even with losing our finance director, that finance team was able to pull together and get us a distinguished budget award. And that award looks at transparency, the amount of information, and the type of information. And so we're just getting better and better every year with our budget presentations and our budgets to the community.” 

Award recipients have pioneered efforts to improve the quality of budgeting and provide an excellent example for other governments throughout North America.
